I am Peter Oladipupo ADEFUYE, I was born in Lagos City of the old Federal capital of the country on the 11th day of April 1959. My educational career commenced in 1965 at the Saint Matthias Catholic Elementary Boys School in Lafiaji, Lagos Island, Lagos State. I had my First Leaving School Certificate examinations in December, 1971. My secondary school education was at Saint Anthony Catholic Grammar School, Esure Ijebu-Imushin, now Ijebu-East Local Government area of the Ogun East senatorial zone, between January 1973 and June 1977. I underwent my Higher Secondary School at Adeola Odutola College between January 1979 and June 1980. I got admitted into the prestigious University of Ibadan to study Medicine between October 1980 and August 1985, I graduated with Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). I had my Housemanship at Ogun State University Teaching Hospital (OSUTH), now Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu, Ogun State between December 1985 and December 1986 and served my mandatory National Youth service as Medical Officer at Ipetu-Ijesha Primary Health Center, then Oyo State and now Osun State between December 1986 and December 1987. I had a brief stint as Senior House officer and Medical Officer between February 1988 and February 1992 before joining the Residency training program of the Teaching Hospital for the Postgraduate Medical training of the West African College of Surgeons of the West Africa Postgraduate Medical College, leading to the award of Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons in the Faculty of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, (FWACS) in April 1999. Due to my contributions in the practice of Obstetrics and Gynaecology I was awarded a Honorary Fellow of the International College of Surgeons by the International College of Surgeons of Nigeria. My academic career began with the Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University), Ago-Iwoye Ogun State in October 2000 as lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Faculty of Clinical Sciences of the Obafemi Awolowo College of Health Sciences of the University. In the course of my academic career I was the World Health Organization (WHO) Nigeria in-country Principal Investigator for the Demonstration of Visual inspection of the cervix with 5% Acetic Acid to detect precancer cells on the cervix and treatment of same with cryotherapy as acceptable and effective methods of prevention cervical cancer in low resource settings.
